Keeping up with the Culveys – Dec 2013

IMG_3093.jpeg

As July drew to a close, we were all adjusting to life without Karim, the house felt very odd, although at the same time under control.... We were going to be ok on our own! You may recall in the last update, Indi and Kai were busy with preparations for the big show at the O2 Arena. Well the big day had arrived!!

2013 Pt 2 - 4 of 250.jpeg

Indi and Kai left first thing on the coach for a day of practice in the Arena, meanwhile we awaited the arrival of Grandad who was joining us for the big night! We drove into London early and arrived with enough time to grab a bite to eat. Once fulfilled we headed into the venue to get ready... but in front of us was a wall of people, going nowhere it seemed. The start time came and went and we still weren’t at our seats, thankfully they delayed the show while the thousands made their way in, no sooner had we sat when the lights went down and the show began! It’s hard to describe the Theatretrain spectacles as they involve so many kids (we’re talking thousands) and they perform in groups. It is a challenge to work out just what is happening on stage as there is s much going on at once! We spent most of our time seeking out Indi and Kai then trying to keep up with them as they carried out their parts! Half of the kids are always up in the stands singing, and at half time they switch around. Indi and Kai were on the floor in the first half and they did great. It was clearly a long day though as when they took their places for the second half in the singing stands you could see how tired they were! The show lasted some 3 hours and it was about 11:00 when it finally drew to a close. Next logistical challenge was meeting up with them to get them home. 3,000 kids all looking for their parents is crazy, we got a text from Louise, their leader, telling us to head to the coach park but it still took an age to find them! Then it was straight in the car and home, it was 1am by the time we got in, but they had an incredible experience, a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were rightly proud, not only of their talent, but also their resilience as it was hard work and a lot of hours. All round amazing!

For Indi, there was no rest, the very next day she was off for an over nighter with school. It was an Elizabethan night, where they got to be dined, and danced by the boys. Our socialite handled it all very well and made it home alive, ready to sleep, sleep, sleep!

2013 Pt 2 - 11 of 250.jpeg

Meanwhile, our little man was making progress with eating food rather than just being a milk monster, it was slow progress, and at times a frustrating process as it seemed that everything made him gag and choke which is always a bit scary, but he was making steady progress. At the same time though his cheekiness was running off the charts, our little smiler was becoming a proper cheeky chappie!

All in the same week, Kaibo was at his Karate grading aiming for his next belt, it was a stormy day as the grading kicked off, and there was a few huge claps of thunder making it hard to concentrate! The rain was coming down hard, then suddenly in the middle of the grading, part of the ceiling collapsed into the room and water came rushing through into the hall!! we are not talking a few drips, we’re talking buckets and buckets of water all over the place! The grading was moved to another hall at the school and merged with the other group. 5 mins into this session though, the fire alarm went off!! Next thing we know we are in the playground! So the grading was completed in the playground, in the rain, and they were doing press-ups in the puddles, it was bizarre!! He did it though, despite all the disruptions, Kai was now a rocking blue belt!

As the school year came to an end, Indi went off on a Brownie overnight trip on a narrow boat! You can only imagine 20 girls all crammed into that small space, you have to feel for the leaders! While Indi was off on her own, we took Grandad over to Windsor with the boys for a look around the castle. Problem was there was a 2 hour queue to get in... so we decided that it looked great from the outside and who needed to go in!! We found ourselves a nice side street cafe and took a seat for a bite to eat. No sooner had we got comfortable when Logan decided he would spice things up by throwing up everywhere! Luckily it was a nice day so he could strip down to his nappy and chill in the nice warm weather!

Then school finished for another year! Indi had an emotional goodbye with Miss Fernley as she was leaving the school, Indi had been very close to her and was very sad that she wouldn’t see her next year. Kai’s teacher was also moving on, but in true boy style, he was cool about it! So they had 6 weeks of fun ahead... what would they get up to??!!

2013 Pt 2 - 37 of 250.jpeg

To begin with, they had some chill time, Abi came down with Kiera and Cam, and they just had fun. But as we headed into August, the action began. We started with a party at Tanya and Steve’s! It was a beautiful day so we could hang in the garden which was great. It was the first time I had met Isaac the great! It was brilliant to see him doing so well and showing us what a fighter he was! It was also a bit scary to see just how big our Logan is in comparison, he just towered over little Isaac!! They played so well together it was lovely to see, even if Logan did seem to knock Isaac out at one point!

Following quickly on the heals of Tan’s Do, was Chris’s birthday bash and annual softball game at Heyford Cricket Club. Back to back parties, it was like being 25 again!!

And this year, we even played softball!! Can’t remember who won (i’m sure it was me though!) but one thing we took away from the day was a very painful foot for Ly. It was like she had snapped a tendon, she was in agony. So much so that we ended up taking her to A&E to get it checked out! Thankfully, it wasn’t busy and we were seen quickly. As usual she was told to rest, and take ibruprofen. The next few weeks would prove to be very tough as we hoped the injury would heal quickly, but sadly she is still suffering with it, 6 months on...

Next for Indi and Kai was a week with Nanny and Grumpy, they always have a ball on their summer trip in the country. This year sadly we couldn’t coordinate the trip with the availability at Weymouth, so this year it was a fun week in Steeple Ashton! As usual they had plenty packed in, including Gromit spotting in Bristol! On the Friday Lyra, Logan, and I headed down too and we had a lovely lunch at the Three Daggers. Again the weather was great and the kids loved running around in the playground, Logan had fun in the grass, and looked all grown up in his new Nanny made jumper!!

As we said thanks and goodbye to Nanny and Grumpy, we took the kids up to Westbury White Horse, a favourite place of mine when I was growing up. We had so much fun running about and climbing on the horse, Logan and Ly chilled out in the sun while the rest of us did the climbing, then we all vegged out on the grass, it was a great way to finish a lovely day. Having Indi, Kai, and Logan be able to enjoy Westbury White Horse like I used to when I was a kid was a really special moment, one of my favourites of the summer.

2013 Pt 2 - 54 of 250.jpeg

August was rushing by and the kids were loving being off school, but best of all it was time to go on holiday!! For part one of our summer hols we jumped in the car and headed South to France to meet up with the lovely Marcelle, Mazan, Chloe, and Chad, who were over from Kuwait for the summer. We took the Euro Tunnel then headed onwards towards Paris during the evening. We finally arrived just north of Paris at about 11:00 at night. All feeling a little tired, but very happy with our wonderful holiday villa that was to be our home for a few days! Next day we were woke up to lovely sunshine, and enjoyed breakfast sat outside in the beautiful countryside. After breakfast we drove over to Marcelle and Mazan’s place for a day of catching up, eating well, and playing games in the garden. We hadn’t seen these guys since leaving Kuwait in 2011 so it really was a great day of catching up on all that’s been happening and seeing how the kids have grown up, despite the time apart they all got on really well.

The following day, we agreed to meet in Versailles, which was only about an hour away and none of us had been before. We had a loose plan to meet at lunchtime, but our time apart had meant that we had forgotten that our lunch time and Mazan’s lunch time were several hours apart!! Not to worry, we had a nice stroll around and had lunch in a very nice street cafe, just around the corner from the palace! Being the middle of August, it was a little busy, and our plan of meeting up in the palace gardens was scuppered by a large queue and very poor French organisation beating our levels of patience!! So when we finally managed to rendevous, we found a nice bench on a tree lined boulevard and Mazan cracked open the champagne and we shared a toast to old friends!! Once the champers was tasted though we needed more, so we settled into another of Versailles cafe’s and enjoyed another few hours of chat, before we had to hit the road once again to meet the Euro tunnel and head home. Seeing Marcelle and Mazan after all this time was wonderful, it reminded us all of why we became such good friends in Kuwait, and that we truly must stay in touch!!

We arrived home about midnight and all crashed into bed! The next day, we did some frantic packing for a few hours and then headed off to Heathrow. We spent the night at a hotel close to the airport as we had a very early flight the next morning to Bulgaria! Yes after owning property in Bulgaria for about 7 years we were finally heading over for a family holiday, for the first time!!!

The flights went well, and the mini bus was waiting for us at Varna airport for the hours journey to our apartment in St Vlas. It was amazing to drive through Sunny Beach, and St Vlas after all these years, it had changed so much. The area was so much more developed and really looked great. We checked in to our apartment, said hello to a few of the local staff that we knew from when we purchased the apartments, and then.... relaxed!!

2013 Pt 2 - 88 of 250.jpeg

The next week was a blissful mix of pools, beach, waves, swimming, air hockey, and lots of food!! In between all this we took a trip into to Sunny Beach, and across to Nesebar to have a look around the ancient town, and enjoy a fab dinner overlooking the Black sea. After all these years it was great to come to Bulgaria with the whole family, the kids loved it, we were pleased that our investment is becoming an established location and well used resort. Even if it is mostly Russians!!

Once we were home, the focus switched to getting back to school, as usual Kai and indi were excited to get going on another year at school. For Logan, it was time to get into the swing of nursery! More change was on the way though, as we were on the hunt for a new Aupair following Karim’s departure earlier in the summer. After placing an ad on Gumtree, we were contacted by a Romanian girl called Livia. Lyra went to pick her up in Slough and we chatted until late. All seemed good, she was responsible, confident, and friendly. By the time we finished getting to know her, it was late in the evening so she stayed, and that was that, we had a new Aupair!

For a few years now we have been promising to go to a festival with Jane, Guy, and their gang. Finally after not managing to coordinate ourselves for the Cornbury festival, we met up at Jamie Oliver, and Alex James’ Feastival! It’s a family friendly festival of music, great food, and drink. We all had a great day chillin out in the sun, and topped it off with a good old bop with the kids to Rizzle Kicks! Mama do the hump!!! Afterwards we bundled back into the cars and headed back to Janes for a well earned sleep over!

Getting back to school wasn’t the only new start in September, it was also time for Indi and Kai to get back to horse riding, and they started a new Theatre Group, Artemis. After the fun of Theatretrain, we decided it was time for them to step it up a bit. Artemis continues to give them the acting, singing, and dancing, but much more professional, and with the option to obtain their LAMDA qualifications if they work hard enough. After a challenging start for Kai (he is in a different group to Indi) they are both loving it.

2013 Pt 2 - 131 of 250.jpeg

Before the winter started to set in, we took a trip up to Legoland, unbelievably we hadn’t been once all summer! But we couldn’t let the whole season go by without at least one afternoon at Indi and Kai’s favourite theme park! It was a first for Logan, but he seemed to enjoy the surroundings, a bit small for the rides, but there is always next year. We also managed to go snow tubing at our local dry ski slope. Snow tubing basically involves dragging a tractor tyre inner tube half way up the ski slope, then sitting in it and sliding back down again! Great fun, and great exercise! Even gets Kai working up a sweat!!

September of course is Nanny C’s birthday, this year we headed down to Andy’s in Bristol for the afternoon to wish Mum a happy birthday and enjoy a family lunch together, not something that happens many times a year!! Nice to see everyone though.

Just before reaching October, I had one of my big trips of the year to do, in 5 days I visited Malaysia, Singapore, Yantian in China, and Hong Kong! It was a long trip in far to many time zones to have any idea of what time of day it is, but a very interesting week, and i really enjoyed to opportunity to visit China for the first time! While I was away, Grandad Peck came down to help out as we found ourselves without an Aupair again. Sadly things with Livia had not worked out. So we were without help again, and this time we were seriously questioning whether we wanted to go through the whole process again. The experience with Livia had shown us just how difficult it was to find somebody that we could feel comfortable with in our house, looking after our baby!

It was October! Only 2 months to Christmas, and that means our beautiful little baby boy Logan was 1 year old!!! It didn’t feel possible but our little big man really was a year old!! We kept things simple on his birthday, but he did have some nice presents, and he got lots of hugs and kisses from us all day!!

Earlier in September, we had a surprise invite from an old friend at Tesco. It was Kaiye’s 50th birthday in October, just after our Logan’s day! So we headed up to Loughborough and joined Ronnie, Heather, and a few of our other old friends and colleagues to give Kaiye Bademosi the shock of his life at his surprise party!! He thought he was going to the theatre, but instead he got us!! It was brilliant to see Kaiye and his family, we hadn’t seen each other for about 10 years! Indi, Kai, and Logan also had a great night, Logan got to sleep nicely, and the kids made friends with the other guys there and had a ball!

During October, Lyra had been carrying out a lot of research on Aupairs. She had been interviewing a number of people over skype but we had finally agreed on a Spanish Guy called Jonathan. He arrived after a long journey from his home town west of Madrid that had taken almost 24 hours to reach us. When he arrived he was very quiet, and his English was limited, but he seemed willing and got straight into getting to know us and of course Logan! In no time at all we knew we had found the right guy.

It wasn’t all happy welcomes though, as after 16 years with Lyra and I, Pilgrim passed away quietly. Our beautiful cat had travelled the world with us over the years and had always settled wonderfully wherever we went, with whichever other cats, and dogs came to live with us. She is missed terribly, but will always be a big part of our family history. We believe she was 19 or 20 years old when she died.

2013 Pt 2 - 160 of 250.jpeg

You may remember that I started 2013 by going under the knife to sort out a knee problem i had developed from all the running I did training for the marathon in Prague. Well as part of my rehabilitation, I had entered into the Great South Race in Portsmouth. It was a 10 mile road race, the training had gone well and I was confident of a good time. We all headed down to Portsmouth the day before hoping to have a nice look around, what we hadn’t expected was the strong winds and rain that had greeted us! So our adventures were limited to a shopping mall next to HMS Victory!

On the morning of the race i was relieved to see that it was dry and sunny, I was not so happy that the wind was blowing a gale!! My start time wasn’t until 11:00 so we had time to find a good spot for Ly and the kids. With the weather as it was, we decided to make a base camp in a very nice cafe near to the start line. As I lined up to start it was clear the biggest hurdle was going to be the wind, it was really blowing. We set off and all went well, it was the biggest and busiest race i had taken part in, 25,000 runners!! So it was busy the whole way around. I kept up a pretty good pace, and the wind wasn’t too much of an issue as I ran through Portsmouth, then as I hit 8 miles, we turnaround into the wind along the Southsea coast, this is where the challenge really started!! As the gusts blew it almost stopped me in my tracks!! It made the last two miles really very difficult. But I kept my head down and made it!! I looked down at my stopwatch to checkout my time, I had challenged myself to complete the race is 1Hr 30Mins. I had completed it in 1Hr 29Mins, 53Secs!!! Blooming chuffed!!

After the race, we decided to have a walk along the sea front, we visited the monument for the fallen during the 1st and 2nd World wars, which was interesting for the kids to understand. Then we went up on to the beach and got to feel the full force of the wind! The kids were loving it! Thankfully Logan was nicely snuggled in his push-chair because the wind was incredibly strong. What we didn’t realise was that by the evening, the wind was being classed as a hurricane!!

The end of October is of course Halloween! The kids got dressed up and headed out trick or treating! Logan joined them, dressed as a little devil!! Meanwhile, back at home Jonathan and I were inundated with trick or treaters wanting lots of sweets!!

2013 Pt 2 - 167 of 250.jpeg

Bonfire weekend, was also Abi’s 40th birthday celebration, which was a girls weekend away in Oxford, in a prison! A 4 star ex prison, now a very nice hotel, Mal Maison!! They had a great night out, and judging by the phone call I had from Lyra late in the evening, what actually happened will remain a mystery forever!!  I of course had to look after the 3 kiddles... no problem I thought, but Logan was really not very well so he made it a pretty constant challenge, boy did i enjoy those naps he has during the day!! When Lyra got back, she had a couple of hours to relax before it was time light up the chimenea, toast some marshmallows, and paint shapes in the air with sparklers! All this was building up to the big firework display over at the Blue Mountain (conveniently over the road from our house so we don’t actually need to go!).

As we approached the 1 year anniversary of Lyra’s Mum’s death, Lyra drove up to Northampton with Logan, to visit Olives grave, pay her respects and leave some flowers. It doesn’t seem possible that a year without Crazy Nana had passed so quickly, she is still in our thoughts, and greatly missed. While in Northampton, Ly also paid a visit to Brendan and Judit to say hello to their new member of the family Patrick Arpad Fearn!! We are so pleased for them, as we know it has been a long journey, but with a very happy outcome. I am especially pleased, as we have been able to empty our house of a lot of baby stuff and fill up theirs!!

India has been wanting to raise some money for charity as part of her Brownie Charity badge, she decided that she wanted to join the ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ Campaign. We sent off for the details and decided that she would be sponsored for standing up all through her Brownie pack meeting. She wrote out to her friends and family, went to school and encouraged her classmates and teachers to sponsor her, and in the end raised over £135!! Well done Indi, great job!!

2013 Pt 2 - 170 of 250.jpeg

For Remembrance day this year, both Indi and Kai got to take part, but sadly in different parades!! Just to make it a little more challenging, it was our friend Luci Love’s 40th party the night before too, so getting up early and being ready for the parades was all the more challenging!! But they both made it, I was especially pleased for Kai as it was his first parade, so he learnt a lot about what they were remembering and why we do this each year. They both did a great job at paying respects to those who sacrificed their lives for us.

Earlier in the year i had bought tickets for Ly and I, to one of my favourite bands gig at the Shephards Bush Empire, Chris and Kara were coming too. A few weeks before though I had to re-arrange a trip to Russia that meant I would miss it! I was gutted, but Ly drafted in Steph and they went anyway!! Meanwhile I was in Moscow in the freezing cold! At least i got to go up to St Petersburg, which is a stunningly beautiful city, even if it doesn’t get light until gone 10:00 in the morning in the winter!!

And then it was December... and that means Christmas!!! Our decs had been up a week already as we hit December, and the 1st weekend was dedicated to a day trip to London, to Winter Wonderland with the very lovely Gillerts! It was a great way to kick off Christmas. The park was very busy, but we had a fun day, the winter ice park was amazing, the ice sculptures were almost as breathtaking as the temperature!! We also rode the big wheel which the boys spent their time renaming well known sights of London... The BT tower become the ‘tea towel’, and Big Ben become ‘Giant Jen’!!

It was thanksgiving in the USA, and Lyra and I jetted off to New York for a few days on our own, to do some Christmas shopping and enjoy some time out for a few days!! Many thanks must go to Jonathan and Grandad for managing the kiddie duties for us while we were away, they did great! We arrivied in New York on Black Friday, and once we had dropped off our luggage at the hotel, we headed down to Macy’s to see what all the fuss was about. Oh my god!! It was mobbed, people everywhere seeking those thanksgiving bargains!! We were a little overwhelmed to be honest, and as neither of us consider ourselves professional shoppers we spent a while just watching the madness. After a while though Ly did manage to buy a few items in Macy’s, but then we went on and hit, the Gap, Skechers, and many more with bargains to be found everywhere! We ended the first night at Bryants park which always has an ice rink and Christmas market set up at this time of year. We managed to get a table at the Celcius restaurant and chilled out with a a few beers & wine. It wasn’t long though until the jet lag started to hit, so we headed back to the hotel and crashed.

2013 Pt 2 - 188 of 250.jpeg

The following day we hit 5th Avenue, paid homage at the Apple Store and did a good job at wearing out the Credit card!! We ended our day close to the hotel with a very chilled out Japanese and a couple of beers in the local! Then the jet lag got us again! Day 3 we hit the Outlet Centre and really pulled out all the stops on the shopping front, and that pretty much finished us off for shopping! We had done really well, but both us and the bank balance was screaming no more!! That night we celebrated by taking a fantastic dinner cruise on the Husdon river. It was really lovely, very romantic, we got all dressed up, had a great dinner, marvelled at the skyline, admired the Statue of Liberty from the decks, and even managed a bit of a dance!! The last couple of days we spent enjoying the sights, we rode the open top bus down to battery park and then the ferry over to Liberty and Ellis islands which was a really interesting experience, you could really feel the atmosphere of hopes and fears at the immigration centre on Ellis island. On the last day, we spent the afternoon in Central Park, it really is a marvelous place, especially at this time of year when all the leaves are turning gold. Lyra made friends with the local squirrels, and then we had a late lunch at the Boathouse in the middle of Central Park. Then after all that fun, it was time to head home to our little monkees, we had really missed them...

Next was the Annual TCC Christmas Party, this year we descended on Hedsor House in Taplow for a night of Childrens Fantasies...we entered through a wardrobe into the world of Narnia, the food was being served in Shrek Land, dessert in Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, and the dancing was in Harry potters Great Hall!! It was a really nice night, but we weren’t on top form as Logan had really been unwell for a few days with his teeth coming through and recovering from his MMR. Abi had come down to save us and be our babysitter for the night (very brave considering how difficult Logan was being). Still we were out, we had a hotel booked so we could have a relaxing start to the following day. By 11:30 that night though, we were so tired, we ducked out early from the party, and headed back to the hotel.... and slept!!!

The last few weeks before Christmas were as usual a blur of activities as the term ended with a flurry of celebrations and fun! The kids sang to Pensioners as part of the school Chior, they were picked up from that and driven back to school just in time to complete their latest karate grading, which made Kai the highest grade of belt in his class, and both of them are now the examples used for the younger ones to follow. From the grading they whizzed across town to the Gym where they completed their final swimming lesson of the year!! This level of activity was kept up right until they broke up! Ly and the kids also found time to pay a visit to Chrissy who has decided to move out of our house and into a new house up the road where she is treated like royalty and there are no dogs or babies to disturb her daily routine of pampering. It seems she is very content at a her new home, and very fat!

On the 15th, it was Indi and Kai’s first opportunity to show off all they had learnt from Artemis in the first term as it was their Christmas Spectacular! They had already appeared at the switching on of the Christmas lights in Bracknell, but this was their show! It consisted of the two Artemis groups (Bracknell and Windsor) and each group was split into to age groups. They both did so well, singing their hearts out, dancing away (although Kai was a bit too focused on the words to dance that much),  and then playing great roles in their play, they both showed such great confidence and ability, it was fabulous to watch! Joining us for the pleasure was Auntie and Uncle, plus Chris, Kara, and Jonathan. After the show we headed over to the Cricketers pub and had a really lovely celebratory meal.

2013 Pt 2 - 208 of 250.jpeg

Santa got himself in a pickle again this year, so Indi and Kai were again invited to head over to Lapland UK (now conveniently located in Ascot) to lend a helping hand! They had a great time helping Santa make the toys, and helping Mother Christmas make the gingerbread men. Then they had time for a quick skate in the rain, before sitting down with Santa to discuss how good they had been! Luckily for them Santa felt that they had been good, especially at looking after their little Brother so he would be visiting on Christmas night!! Indi made sure she reminded Santa of her LPS obsession, while Kai agreed that he was happy with a toothbrush!!

A few days later we said goodbye to Jonathan as he headed home to Spain for Christmas, and we headed up to Northampton to start the Christmas celebrations! Saturday was at Chris And Kara’s, Tanya, Steve, Kyra, and the very light Isaac were there for a while, and Auntie ‘n’ Uncle also made it down from Nottingham despite the high winds and rain. The next day, was over to Jo’s for her 40th birthday lunch, as usual it was a lovely sophisticated affair with champagne and canapés, topped off with an exclusive performance by Indi, Kai, and Austin, brilliant! As soon as this one was through, we headed straight over to Wootton for Antoinette’s 40th do! The kids had a blast, with Indi crowned best girl dancer, and Kai earning a mention from the band for his great dancing to their tunes! By 9pm everyone was shattered and it was time to head home to Abi’s for a chance to sleep off the tiredness before we celebrated our 12th Wedding Anniversary.

We celebrated at Fawsley Hall, which is a lovely hotel near Daventry, we made it over to the hotel at about 4pm and settled into our room. The kids were over the moon at the room, and it’s ‘huge’ bathroom, that even had it’s own armchair in it!! At 7pm we headed down to dinner where we met Grandad and Chris & Kara. It was a lovely meal, very relaxed. The kids did a great job at being grown up.

And then it was Christmas Eve! We headed home, the kids got excited, Indi and Kai spread their reindeer food on the lawn outside, left Santa and the reindeers some food and drink, then switched on the Santa tracking website! When we realised that Santa was already dashing into Europe, the kids decided they had better get to bed! So the stockings were laid out, and they went straight off to sleep (all 3 of them!). Lyra and I then spent the next few hours (through to 1AM) packing up the rest of the gifts!!

2013 Pt 2 - 245 of 250.jpeg

Christmas day began at 7:30 when Kai came in to tell us about what Santa had left him, as we hadn’t heard from Logan we assumed it was about 5AM and told Kai it was too early!! Only to realise that Logan had delivered us a great Christmas present, a lay in!!! 7:30 may not seem like a lay in, but trust me, it’s all relative!!

We had a lovely morning by ourselves, then Abi, Kiera, and Cam joined us for lunch with Abi’s Mum Dee. As per usual, we ate lunch late and had only just finished Lyra’s amazing feast when Chris and Kara joined us for the evening. We said goodbye to Dee, and settled in for an evening of fun and games. We were joined by Joyce and Hannah from over the road, and out came the Guesstures! The kids finally gave up the ghost at about 11:00, and to be honest, the grown ups didn’t last much longer!!!

Boxing day was a similar affair, minus all the gifts, and a bit more laid back, but all ended up with another wonderful feast, a few games of gong (never mind Kara), and then an epic game of Guesstures, that will live on in Legend as the night we learnt of the disease known as Chicken Feathers, the rising of Lizard boy, and where our Kai, scored a maximum 16 points in one round!!! Unforgettable!!!

Christmas Saturday saw us head west to Nanny & Grumpy’s with the rest of the Culvey’s for an afternoon of more pressies, catch up chat, and a lovely buffet lunch from Nanny!!

So as we sit here in the last few days of 2013, we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas time with family and friends.

2014 is just around the corner, from the Culveys we wish you a year of joy, fulfillment, and growth. It’s a lucky year, so get out there and achieve something you never believed you could!!!

Much love, from The Culvey’s!!!
